An 18-year-old Emirati man died after his car veered off the road and collided with a tree at the Al Jazirah Al Hamra in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The car split into two halves due to the impact of the crash.
On being alerted about the accident, the central operations room of the RAK Police immediately dispatched a traffic patrol, an ambulance, paramedics and rescue teams to the site.
"We were informed about the accident - which left the car into two halves - around 5.35pm on Friday," said Col Ahmed Saeed Al Sam Al Naqbi, director of the traffic and patrols department, RAK Police. Initial enactment of the accident showed that the car crashed into a tree on the side of the road, he added.
"The victim lost control over his car and rammed it into a tree which split the vehicle in half."
The rescue teams tried hard to save the victim, but could not as his injuries were severe and the man died on the spot, Col Al Naqbi pointed out.
"The case file has been referred to the departments concerned for due legal action."
Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of the central operations department, RAK Police, said all drivers should strictly follow the traffic rules and regulations.
"Motorists need to be attentive on the road, stick to speed limit, avoid reckless driving and be patient at the wheel."
