The Labour, Interior sign e-link deal

abu dhabi - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HH Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attended yesterday the signing of electronic link agreement between the ministries of Interior and Labour in presence of the Labour Minister HE Saqr Ghobash.

The event was also attended by Major General Nasser Lakhraibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior’s office and a number of senior officials from both ministries.

Major General Nasser bin Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Acting assistant Undersecretary for Naturalisation, Residency and Ports affairs at the Ministry of Interior, signed on behalf of the Interior ministry, while Humaid Rashid bin Dimas Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Labour Ministry signed on behalf of the Labour ministry.

Commenting on the agreement, Al Minhali said that the agreement calls joint cooperation among the federal ministries in line with the UAE government strategy. As per the agreement, measures have been set up to streamline administrative, technical and electronic link between the two ministries in convenient and safe environment, whereby the both ministries will swap information efficiently and effectively.

He added that the project will help get rid of paper files to be replaced by the e-government procedures to ensure data accuracy, save time and energy, adding that the move will also curb forgery of labour permits.

‘The agreement will help provide necessary data for both ministries, such as entry and employment visas, the dates of entry, dates of residence visa cancellation and residence visa data, including number of residence visa, date of issuance, date of expiry, dates of renewal, labour absconding reports and others’, Al Minhali said.

He hailed the joint cooperation and coordination between the two ministries to further enhance the services rendered to the public.

On his part, Dimas said that the deal ‘is historic and important for the both ministries at a time the UAE is witnessing comprehensive national developments under leadership of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who urged for integration among the public institutions to work as one team.
