Al Habtoor Motors, the distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in the UAE, has announced the recall of 53,918 Pajeros due to airbag problems.
Following directives of Ministry of Economy - Department of Competition and Consumer Protection, Al Habtoor Motors announced recall of Pajero models from January 2013 to December 2017 with immediate effect.
"We regret to inform that due to usage condition, the changes of temperature and longtime humidity, the propellant (ammonium nitrate) in the inflator for passenger side airbag may be deteriorated, and as a result, the inflator body may rupture at the time of airbag deployment, therefore the frontal airbag inflator has to be changed," the company said in a statement.
All repairs related to this service campaign will be completed free of charge to the customer, the company announced.
In all, 53,918 vehicles have been affected due to this defect.

Customers may contact Al Habtoor Customer Care Centre on 800 25 4228667 (800-Al Habtoor) from 8am to 8pm, Saturday to Thursday or send an email at crm@habtoormotors.com to book the appointment, the release added.
