Actors these days are known to undergo extreme body transformations for their roles - to get into the 'skin' of their characters, especially Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan who has gone through such transformations for several films over the past 10 years.

Seems like Khan's recent transformation from fat to fit for his blockbuster film 'Dangal' has inspired not just Bollywood, but actors across the border too.

'Khoobsurat' star Fawad Khan is apparently is working on a whole new look for a new film, but he is going from fit to fat ala Aamir in Dangal!

Earlier in 2016, it was reported that Bilal Lashari of 'Waar' fame was taking up the herculean task of remaking Pakistani cult classic 'Maula Jatt', with Fawad Khan and TV star Hamza Ali Abbasi as Maula Jatt and Noori Nath, respectively.

The 1979 Punjabi film starred superstar Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi in the lead roles.

While the late Rahi was the protagonist, Qureshi was the villain. The powerful larger than life personalities of both stars not only made for good cinema, but made the movie a cult hit. The movie is still considered one of Pakistan's biggest blockbusters even after nearly 40 years.

Since Fawad and Hamza don't have 'physically imposing' physiques, the actors have decided to get super-fit for the role by gaining mass for the iconic roles.

The film will finally see the day of light after a years of speculation, The Express Tribune reported.

The film, announced as a multi-million dollar remake of Sultan Rahi's Maula Jatt in December 2013, will hit the floors very soon. Sources told The Express Tribune that a team of action choreographers from Los Angeles had arrived in Lahore to train Maula Jatt's lead actors for the gruelling task that lies ahead. "The team has been in Lahore for a couple of weeks where workshops are being conducted for the cast and the crew," a source privy to the details said. - Express Tribune

Abbasi, who has risen to prominence with hit TV shows (Mann Mayal) and films back home, including 'Jawani Phir Nahi Aanee' (You Are Only Young Once) - is also a political activist and affiliates himself with cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf.

Earlier, it was reported that Hamza and Fawad had left for LA to begin their physical transformations. "It has to be a lot more than just a physical transformation. Fawad as Maula Jatt and Hamza as Noori Nath will come as an amazing shocker for the audience," Lashari had said in an interview.

Lashari, whose action spy thriller Waar was a big hit a few years back, has repeatedly said that fans must not consider his film a remake as a lot of the original film's nuances had been changed in keeping with modern times. Instead of a 'gandasa', expect our heroes to carry guns.
