Other than summer (and lately monsoon), Dubai has another season too i.e. the food season. For the next few days, our plates are going to be full and our taste buds (and tummies) content. Let's eat, shall we?
Affordable fine dining
Wish to savour a meal at one of Dubai's fine dining restaurants, but don't want it to burn a hole in your pocket? As part of the Miele Dubai Restaurant Week, you can sample a gourmet three-course meal for just Dh199. Take your pick from 15 of the city's most sought-after world-renowned restaurants including Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen, Atul Kochhar's Rang Mahal, Heinz Beck's Social, and Gary Rhodes' Rhodes W1. The set menu has been curated by renowned chefs, especially for Dubai Food Festival (DFF).

We're ten
A much-looked forward to three-day event, Taste of Dubai is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. It is playing host to the most impressive chef line-up, including Michel Roux Jr, Aldo Zilli, Eric Lanlard, Mohammad Orfali, Tim Anderson, and Paolo Pettenuzzo. Legendary singer Billy Ocean will be headlining on the opening night of the festival. Other than cooking demos, competitions, and entertaining acts - you can enjoy food from 24 of the city's hottest restaurants for as little as Dh15 per plate.
At Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, a ticketed event, on from March 9 until March 11
Learn how to cook
The popular Al Islami cookery masterclasses are running at the Etisalat Beach Canteen (DFF), with a schedule of fun events filled with cooking demonstrations, competitions, and challenges. Gather around the Al Islami Kitchen Stage as celebrity chefs and homegrown culinary talents share their top kitchen secrets. The star-studded show will include Michelin-starred chefs, namely Jason Atherton, Anne Feolde, and Manal Alalem, who is regarded as Queen of the Arabian Kitchen.  Learn how to eat healthy and use quality ingredients when cooking, from an experienced Al Islami nutritionist.
Behind Sunset Mall, free-to-attend, on until March 11
Catching over food and flicks
It's the best time to be outdoors. As part of DFF, you're invited to experience a unique food concept while catching a movie. Find the freshest dishes prepared in front of you - from burgers to vegetarian delights and hot pizzas. The concept focuses on a particular era from the world of movies - think black and white Hollywood classics or Arabic classics, movies from the golden age of the '50s as well as cartoons.
At Last Exit, free-to-attend, on tomorrow and between March 9 and 11

Fresh and healthy
Café Bateel, home of gourmet Mediterranean cuisine, has launched its seasonal menu. Diners can delight in light, fresh, and healthy options from soups and salads to mains and desserts, with special offerings (like Mediterranean soup and Pappardelle Mushroom pasta) for the vegans too. Highlights include the Bateel Caprese, a fresh ciabatta topped with pesto, plum tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and avocado, and the wholesome lamb confit and farro risotto, served with chickpeas, Greek mushrooms, and caramelised onions. A new range of sandwiches and mains make for perfect lunches, such as the Ciriole alla Genovese, a pairing of Umbrian ribbon pasta served with marinated chicken, green peas, potatoes, and light creamy pesto. For those looking to reward themselves after a light meal, the menu brings a variety of dessert options including a Pomegranate sundae, which is a medley of berries and ice cream and a Chocolate Hazelnut sundae.

Year of the Rooster
P.F. Chang's is celebrating the 2,000-year-old tradition of Chinese New Year with limited-time menu items. It includes Spicy Hunan Wings, which incorporates the tradition of eating chicken to symbolise prosperity and togetherness of the family. It features Buffalo Wings glazed with chilli jam sauce. Eating fish is associated with prosperity and Hainan 'Catch of the day' is filled with rich flavours - fried Sea Bass dusted with Masala flour.  Wok Fired Filet, a beef filet marinated in soy, seared on the wok with potato cubes - indicates a positive start into the New Year.
Available until mid-March
All-you-can-eat brunch
