To err is human. Traffic violations are unavoidable, but are these restricted to ordinary people? One wonders if celebrities and world leaders also commit traffic errors! Yes, they certainly do. But heads of state are in a different category altogether.
That's why it was quite surprising when Britain's Queen Elizabeth was reported to police by a motorist. Reason? The British monarch was not wearing a seatbelt.
According to a Yahoo News report, Her Majesty was reported to the police for not fastening seatbelt while she was being driven to the State Opening of Parliament. An anonymous citizen called the emergency hotline (999) to report the Queen. However, the call fell on deaf ears because as the sovereign ruler of the country, the Queen is not subject to its laws.
In the UK, it is illegal to travel in a car without a seat belt. Doing so will incur a fine of $640 (Dh2,351).
