A legal notice has been served to a 16-year-old girl reminding her of her "conjugal duties".
The girl from Hyderabad was forced to marry a man more than twice her age.
"It (the wedding) happened very suddenly. He was more than 35 years old. I didn't know at the time," she told NDTV.
The girl had only one condition that she should be allowed to sit for her class 10 exam.  After the exam, she was sent to her husband's home. She was allegedly assaulted physically and sexually nearly every day.
When she returned to her family two months later and asked her husband to return the dowry, she was sent a legal notice. The girl got in touch with Anuradha Rao who is part of a government-run social action group.
"The accused is not being booked. Instead, a legal notice has been sent to this 16-year-old girl for restitution of conjugal rights. We are going to file a criminal case against the lawyer," said Achyutha Rao, a Child Rights Commission member.
She also said that it was appalling that a minor girl was served a legal notice on conjugal duties.
