Fetish for phones even while using toilets can land you in trouble. A teenager in Mumbai, India, went through a 5-hour ordeal when while answering the call of nature, he also decided to answer a call on his mobile phone.
Rohit Rajbhar, 19, got his hand stuck in the squat toilet of his home after his phone slipped and fell in the toilet hole at 8:00 am on Monday. Rajbhar tried to retrieve his mobile phone with his right hand but instead, it got stuck in such a way that the fire brigade had to be called in.
Rajbhar's family first tried for almost two hours to free his hand but failed and decided to call the fire brigade. "On Monday morning, the mobile fell inside the toilet and when he (Rajbhar) tried retrieving it, his hand got stuck and we were not able to pull it out despite trying for a very long time," said Rajbhar's brother-in-law, Raj Bharadwaj, adding, the Android phone was given to Rajbhar by his father.
The fire brigade personnel who arrived at the scene said it would not be possible to free the teenager's hand without demolishing the walls around the toilet. R B Ghadge, assistant divisional fire officer, said the piping in the toilet was complicated and required to be dealt with carefully. "The boy was wearing a steel bangle which also got stuck in the toilet. The boy was conscious all through the rescue operations and did not panic. We kept telling him to remain calm. Finally, around 1:00 pm we managed to get his hand out," said Ghadge.
The youth's suffered minor swelling in his hand and was recommended to see a doctor, according to TOI report.
