In an interesting twist of fate, the newly appointed Pakistan army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa served under former Indian army chief Bikram Singh as his brigade commander in the UN peace keeping operations in Congo back in 2007.
Times Of India quoted Gen. Singh saying that that during his tenure with the UN peacekeeping force, he found Bajwa to be "...totally professional and outstanding."
According to the same report however, he cautioned that "A military officer's conduct in the international environment is different from the way he conducts himself back home. There, he is governed by his country's national interests."
It remains to be seen what Gen Bajwa will do as Pakistan's new army chief. He has however an illustrious history on handling complex issues such as the  nature of operations and terrain along the Line of Control.
Experts as well as Gen. Singh concur to adopt a 'wait and see' attitude for Gen. Bajwa's next move.
