Uber and Careen drivers in Pakistan are minting money straight to the banks!
This is not the first time we've heard this kind of news. About five months ago, ProPakistani reported that some Uber drivers make over 100,000 Pakistani rupees a month by just driving cars on the roads of Lahore.
There are even reports surfacing from Pakistan that many drivers employed by the app-based riding platform earn up to double or triple the amount of regular drivers.
Uber launched in Lahore in April this year, has a smaller than usual fleet, resulting in the drivers getting a number of more rides.
The report adds that Uber drivers take home Rs 50,000 while people in Pakistan's financial centre earn about Rs 38,000.

Quora tells us that Uber uses the 25/75 rule. Basically paying its drivers 75% of the earnings from the trip while 25% goes to them. According to Uber, the average Uber driver salary in the US is around $90,000 per year. It includes the maintenance cost of the car, insurance, toll fees and fuel.
But ride-sharing apps like Uber and Careem have not only affected change in Pakistan. In neighbouring India, USA today reports that it is bridging the gap between the rich and the poor.
