Gang snatching ladies bags busted in Sharjah

The Sharjah Police on Wednesday arrested a gang of three people, including two Asians, specialised in snatching ladies bags in public streets. The culprits used motorbikes to follow women to snatch their bags while they walked along the streets.
A police official said on receiving complaints from victims, the police formed teams to locate the culprits and arrest them.
During the search, the team managed to identify one of the suspects found to be from Comoros Island. After he was arrested, he confessed that he committed the crimes with the help of two Pakistanis.
The police continued the search for the other suspects and arrested them red-handed in possession of big amounts of cash and stolen bags.
They have all been referred to the public prosecution.
Col. Mohammed Rashid Al Bayat, director-general of Police Operation Department urged the women to immediately inform the police when exposed to any kind of such crimes and assault.
The quick response to the complaint resulted in the speedy arrest. "The police found several stolen bags with the thieves but there are no claimants for the bags," he said.
Col. Al Bayat urged the public to inform the police immediately about such crimes by calling 800151, or Sms at 7999.
