West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday condoled the death of veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey, who passed away at the age of 86.
"Saddened at the passing away of veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey. End of an era. Condolences to his family and friends," Banerjee tweeted.
Saeed appeared in several Indian as well as British movies, such as Satyajit Ray's "Shatranj Ke Khilari", Richard Attenborough's "Gandhi" and David Lean's "A Passage to India".
Saeed was the first Indian to receive the Order of the British Empire for his contribution to drama.
