An Arab landlord allegedly locked three African women inside an apartment in Sharjah as they failed to pay rent. On Tuesday, a Sharjah court sentenced the landlord to three months in jail after finding him guilty of illegal confinement.
During the court hearing, the accused denied the accusation and testified that the three women were lying. He said that when he asked the women for the money, they allegedly refused to pay. To ensure that they will not leave the flat, he kept some of their belongings in another room. He said the three women changed the door lock and blamed him for that, and that the women had fabricated the story. His lawyer appealed to the court to release him on bail, but the judge refused.
