Two Emirati youth on Thursday received serious burn injuries after the gas that they were inhaling from a lighter caught fire in their car in Al Jarf area in Ajman.
Lt Col Ali Al Shamsi, director of Ajman Police Stations, said that as soon as the police received the call about the accident, they dispatched a team which included patrol officers, CID as well as a rescue unit. The team found the two boys, aged 17 and 18, inside the car with the glass completely damaged.
One of the injured teenagers received second degree burns and was rushed to Al Mufraq hospital in Abu Dhabi while the other received burns on his hands and was sent to Khalifa hospital for treatment.
The official said that the accident took place when the boys were inhaling the gas from cigarette lighter like a drug, causing the explosion in the closed car that lead to the shattering of the window glass.
Police urged the parents to supervise the children and ensure their safety.
