A cook allegedly bit his ex-fiancee's ear while snatching her purse from her, the Court of First Instance heard.
The 34-year-old Sri Lankan is facing two counts of forcible theft and causing permanent injury.

He did not show up at the hearing on Thursday, and the trial was adjourned to November 21.
The incident took place on April 28.

The complainant, a 36-year-old Sri Lankan employee, said she had met the cook about three years prior to the attack.
"We got engaged after he proposed to me. But later we broke up after many disputes," she said.
She said the cook had been stalking her and harassing her ever since.
"He would assault me on the street; take my purse, steal my stuff and money then return my bag".

On the day she filed the complaint, she said she was walking to work in Al Satwa when the accused came from behind and grabbed her by the arms. He then punched her and snatched her purse.
While she tried to get away from him, he bit her left ear so hard that a part of it got cut.
He then ran away with her purse that contained her mobile phone, Dh 610, bank cards and ID.

The keys of her place and the houses she usually cleaned were also in the purse.
A policeman said the woman filed a complaint at Bur Dubai Police Station against the accused after he attacked her in the street.

Part of the woman's left ear was lost after the attack, it was shown in the Criminal Evidence General Department's forensic report. She has been suffering of bleeding in that ear very often.
