Dubai - The accused and his friend had been initially accused of raping the woman in their car and stealing her mobile phones and Dh3,000 in cash.
The 23-year-old, who works as an office assistant, is believed to have met the Filipina online. His friend, a 26-year-old clerk, was also given a one-year jail sentence.
They had been initially accused of raping the woman in their car and stealing her mobile phones and Dh3,000 in cash.
However, the Court of First Instance ruled the sexual act was not rape but consensual and convicted them of an illicit consensual sex charge.
They earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges. They will be deported after completing their jail terms, as per the court's order.
The court also ordered that they be referred to the Court of Misdemeanors on the theft charge.
The incident took place on March 11.
An Initial forensic report showed the victim's pregnancy test came positive. But she was then supposed to undergo some blood tests and other examination to confirm those results.
The complainant, a jobless, said that she had met the first accused two days prior to the incident on a social networking site.
"He asked to meet me and I told him I would go to Port Saeed in Al Muraqqabat. He picked me from a bus stop," she told the investigators.
She told him to drop her in Sharjah and he promised he would do so after picking his uncle up.
In the meantime, he told her he wanted to have sex with her. "I said I did not want to and he laughed. I tried to leave the car and yelled but he stopped me and covered my mouth," she told the prosecutor.
She said she felt scared and kept quiet when he screamed at her.
The clerk left the steering wheel to his friend and moved to the back seat where he raped her. His friend did the same shortly later. The clerk raped her again after that.
They dropped her in Deira. She realized they stole her belongings after she tried calling her friend but couldn't find her mobile phone.
She said they stole Dh3,000 in cash and two mobile phones worth around Dh1,500. The accused admitted to the charges in the investigation.
The verdict remains subject to appeal by the two men and the public prosecution.
