A flight attendant was allegedly caught at an airport in possession of 616 medically-controlled pills, a court has heard.
The Court of First Instance was told the 28-year-old Kenyan man was arrested at the Dubai International Airport on August 14.
The cabin crew member has been charged in court with bringing and possessing of psychotropic drugs.
A customs inspector said the accused arrived at 7:15pm at Terminal 2. "His bag passed through X-ray and it raised our suspicions as it apparently contained a large quantity of tablets."
The bag was then opened and searched in front of the traveller.
"We found medically-controlled tablets which he claimed he had got from someone in Somalia and was to deliver to a man in Dubai," the officer told the prosecutor.
The drugs were seized and the man was later referred to the anti-narcotics department.
During the public prosecution investigation, the defendant admitted he brought and possessed the drugs and claimed he was to deliver them to his friend's uncle.
The court adjourned the hearing to December 28.
