An Arabic language teacher denied molesting a student at the Court of First Instance on Sunday.
The 43-year-old Pakistani man was accused of groping an 11-year-old schoolgirl during a private teaching session. The incident was reported on February 22 to Al Rafaa police station.
However, the accused admitted in the investigation to having molested the girl while he sat alone with her to teach her Arabic. He was then allegedly caught in the act by her mother.
The girl said during the investigation that she felt scared as the defendant touched her and threatened to make her fail if she did not touch him.
According to prosecution records, the defendant had been giving the girl private lessons for two months. The girl also said that he had previously touched her shoulder several times.
The mother said in the investigation that she left her daughter with the teacher around 8:30pm at the dining table.
"I went to my bedroom. But I came back to check on her when I could no longer hear her voice."
The mother said that she saw the defendant touching her girl inappropriately. She called her husband and then filed a complaint at the police station.
He will be sentenced on April 27.
