Three women try to sell newborn baby for Dh10,000 in UAE

Sharjah - The mother delivered the baby with the help of the other women. She then decided to sell the baby because she couldn't take care of him.

Three Indonesian women were charged with human trafficking after they were caught attempting to sell an infant for Dh10,000 in Sharjah's Al Majaz area. The mother and other two women were caught red-handed on 15 April, 2014.

The Operation Room of Sharjah Police received information about a woman who was looking for a buyer for a newborn baby. An undercover policeman posed as a buyer and entrapped the women. They have been identified as N.A ,30;  E.S, 35 and S.M, 40.

The mother did not attend yesterday's court hearing presided by Judge Hussain Al Ousofi. The other two women were not interrogated as they only speak their mother tongue.

The mother, who worked as a maid, has reportedly absconded from her employer. She had the child out of wedlock. The child's father abandoned her when she told him that she was pregnant. The mother delivered the baby with the help of the other women. She then decided to sell the baby because she couldn't take care of him.

The court has adjourned the case till a translator can be found.
