DUBAI:  The Dubai Police recorded 144 traffic accidents due to the thick fog that engulfed the city today.
The command room of the Dubai police has registered the traffic accidents on various parts of the Dubai road from  6 am until 10 am on Thursday and received 1257 calls around the same period.
Major Mohamed Juma Aman Acting, Director of Command Room of the Dubai Police called on motorists to be careful and to take preventive measures when driving during changing weather conditions and fog. He insisted on using signals while shifting lanes.
As a word of caution, he added, "People should check the weather conditions on various media before moving from home to avoid dangerous accidents and also leave early so that they have enough time and not speed to reach offices."
He added that in such conditions, all drivers should ensure their windshields and lights are clear and that their signals are in working condition before they drive.
Motorists are also advised to leave enough distance between vehicles, should reduce speed and change lanes only when necessary.
The Dubai Police is patrolling roads to prevent congestions, organise traffic, and intervene in cases of an emergency.
