Gitex Shopper Spring 2016 is opening all sorts of finance options to entice consumers into buying gadgets, and banks are competing to get their slice of business in the four-day fair, starting on March 30 to April 2.

Pankaj Kundra, head of payments at Mashreq, said: "Mashreq offers its cardholders a 'triple shopping bonanza' this Gitex Shopper. Gitex is known for the best deals. In another market first, Mashreq cardholders can avail cash-back of up to 10 per cent on purchases made through these zero per cent Instant Easy Pay Plans, or EPP. Cardholders will continue to earn attractive applicable reward points on these spends over and above the 10 per cent cash-back offer on as low as Dh1,000 purchase during tech fair."

Mashreq, a pioneer of zero per cent instant easy payment plans, offers their cardholders a facility to convert their purchases to zero per cent Easy Pay Plans of up to 12 months, instantly at the payment counter itself -- as opposed to the conventional process of cardholders having to call for conversion of their purchases to instalments and then wait for the agent to call back for a confirmation -- across all leading partner electronics chains such as E Max, Jumbo, Jacky's, Sharaf DG, Samsung and E city.

All these benefits are available both at the Gitex venue as well as across all partner outlets in the UAE. Not only will cardholders get the best deals; Mashreq cardholders will enjoy a exclusive red carpet 'Express check out service' at the Gitex Shopper venue at Dubai World Trade Centre at partner retailer kiosks. Mashreq cardholders can also look out for specially tailored deals bundled with their purchase when they shop at partner outlets.

The First Gulf Bank is also offering a zero per cent EPP to select customers, up to 12 months on a minimum purchase of ?Dh1,500  subject to charges. The bank will run a triple rewards points offer, rewarding select customers on purchases of electronics during Gitex 2016.

"Good financial management before and during Gitex Shopper will help visitors to get the most out of the event. Consumers planning to go to Gitex Shopper 2016 can also do some preparation work, including research, to ensure they have a good idea about what they are hoping to buy during the event, and create a budget accordingly," said Hana Al Rostamani, Head of the Consumer Banking Group at FGB.

Mufaddal Khumri Idris, director of credit cards, RAK Bank said: "The region's largest consumer IT and electronics show, Gitex Shopper 2016 is coming back with many exciting deals across the broadest range of electronic products. This year at Gitex, RAKBank Credit Cardholders can enjoy a great shopping experience by converting their purchases into a zero per cent EPP for a period of up to twelve months."

RAK Bank aims to provide its tech savvy customers with added convenience, flexibility and value with the opportunity to shop with a wide range of participating merchants such as Al Futtaim Panatech, Bose, E-city, Emax, EROS, Grandstore Digital, Harman House, IQ store, iStore, iStyle, Jacky's Jumbo, Microsoft, Samsung, Sharaf DG, Smartzone, Switch, Virgin Megastore etc. RAKBank's Credit Cardholders have the opportunity to avail EPPs with minimum purchase value amounting to Dh1,000.

Upon completing a purchase made at these merchants, the customer must simply retain their invoices and call the bank anytime within 10 days to convert the purchase transaction into a zero per cent interest EPP. At the customer's request, the purchase transaction will be converted into an EPP and the monthly instalments will automatically be reflected in the monthly credit card statement. Customers will be notified by a Short Message Service (SMS) to their mobile phones to confirm that the transaction has been successfully converted to an EPP.
