Dubai couple purchases two child car seats, wins luxury car

Dubai - A total of six luxury sedans are being raffled away as prizes during the six weeks of DSS.

While many UAE residents felt a bit 'uneasy' following the implementation of the new federal traffic rules relating to mandatory child car seats, for Piyush Agrawal, the law came as a blessing in disguise.
He won a brand new Infiniti Q50 after the raffle coupon he filled up at the mall, was picked at the first weekly draw of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).
Agrawal, who landed in Dubai a few months back, had gone shopping to City Centre Me'aisem, specifically to buy car seats for his daughters - Ananya, 4, and Akshara, 2.
After buying the car seats, he and his wife filled out the raffle coupon. Agrawal had even joked with his wife about how they were going to win a car, which she laughed off. He couldn't believe his ears when he received a call from the mall management saying he was the first lucky winner of the 'Shop, Win & Drive' weekly draw this DSS, held at the Dubai Outlet Mall.
The weekly mega promotion is organised by the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) with the support of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE).
This was his first ever win at a lucky draw, Agrawal told Khaleej Times: "I had participated in DSF 2017 while buying stuff to set-up my home but never won anything except for a "Better Luck Next Time" quote."
Finding it hard to believe, Agrawal said: "When I received the call from the DSMG team congratulating me on my win, I thought it was a prank call. Only when I saw my name on the website, did I really believe it. I owe this prize to my daughters, who are my good luck charm. Had I not bought the car seats for them, I wouldn't have won this prize," said an ecstatic Agrawal.
Asked if he would be using the new car or selling it off, he said: "My wife now has a new reason to convince me to shop. I had a Hyundai i40 previously but this one is for my wife, who is going to use the new car once she gets her Dubai driving licence.
"Thanks to the Dubai Shopping Malls Group and Dubai Summer Surprise team for this very special prize," he added.
This DSS, DSMG offers shoppers an opportunity to spend Dh200 at participating malls to get a chance to win a brand new Infiniti Q50 every week till August 12. A total of six luxury sedans are being raffled away as prizes during the six weeks of DSS.
