The operations room of the Dubai Police is set for a complete revamp with artificial intelligence (AI) systems set to take over, a top official said.
According to Brigadier Engineer Kamil  Butti Al Suwaidi, Director of Operations of Dubai Police, the new system based on artificial intelligence makes interactions with the officer on duty easier.
Brigadier Al Suwaidi said that the next generation of the operating room will focus on identifying technologies (recognition) based on artificial intelligence systems, including biometric facial recognition. The face recognition technology will help to identify unique facial characteristics of known or wanted criminals that can be automatically recognised via an international database through CCTV installed in public places.
Brig Al Suwaidi pointed out that the room also will include a new artificial intelligence system "to manage the crowds". The system will alert the police about any traffic jams, and will send out early warnings to the operating room.
He confirmed that the next generation of the operating room will include a smart "security predict' for the crimes that might occur in the future.
