Dubai Police on Sunday proved that they value every life, even that of a cat during rain. The cat, which was trapped in the sewage line for seven hours, was rescued by the police after one of their colleagues alerted them about it when he accidentally saw the animal.
Col Ahmed Al Marri, director of crime scenes at the Dubai Police, said he found the poor creature by chance.

"I was passing by Al Qoudus Street in the afternoon when it was raining. I was surprised to see a driver who suddenly parked his car on the left when the signal turned green. I stopped in front of him to tell him that parking there would be dangerous. Then he told me that he heard a weak cry from the drainage and he believed there was a cat trapped inside."
Col Al Marri got closer to the sound and then he made sure that there was a cat trapped inside. So he contacted the concerned authority and gave them the location and left the area, believing that they are dealing with the incident.
When he came back through the same street in the evening, he went down to make sure that the cat was saved, but to his surprise found it was still there.

He continued: "I called the Operations Room of the Dubai police without divulging my identity and checked whether they would intervene in such incidents. The employee who attended the call asked me to wait there and assured me that the matter would be dealt with immediately.
"I received a call within two minutes from the police patrol to know the location and four minutes later the rescue team arrived at the place. They lifted the drainage cover and the rescue operation lasted just 30 seconds."
