For shifting his newspaper subscription to Khaleej Times, first-time KT subscriber Manikandan Sundararajan is not only getting "prompt news delivered in crisp and engaging language", but also driving a brand new Mazda 3.
Manikandan, a Dubai resident for 12 years, won the second draw of the KT Annual Subscription Drive held on January 31. He told Khaleej Times he decided to change his subscription to KT for its "prompt news and engaging delivery of stories". "I love reading KT. I run anaccounting and auditing firm and the series of stories run by KT on VAT (value-added tax) were very useful in my line of work," Manikandan said.

"I also like KT Online and City Times. I particularly like how KT gives importance to engaging subjects, even if these are stories of ordinary people like the recent story of KT on the former Sri Lankan track star who is now driving a taxi in the UAE. This means KT has a good grasp of its readers' interest," Manikandan added.

Manikandan's six-year-old daughter Meghaa is a fan of KT's Young Times (KT).

Her mother, Mahalakshmi, said: "We want to develop in her the habit of reading that's why we subscribed to KT and YT."

Initially, Manikandan thought he received a prank call when he was phoned by Constance Moraes, KT's head of circulation and distribution. "When I got the call, I thought it was just a prank. I hung up and called the same number after a few minutes. It then dawned on me that I had really won a new car," Manikandan said.

"KT's subscription drive has been tremendously well received by our readers. We have gladly welcomed new readers to the KT family, such as Manikandan Sundararajan. What stood out for us, were his positive feedback and insights on KT's news coverage and focus on local and community news," Moraes said. "It also feels great when we put a smile on the faces of our readers," he added. The raffle draw for the Grand Prize (Mazda CX5) will be held on April 2.
