A Pakistani visitor, who allegedly sexually harassed two Emirati women at an amusement centre, faced a sexual assault charge in the Court of First Instance on Sunday.
The 28-year-old man is accused of inappropriately touching both women, aged 18 and 25, taking advantage they were in the dark 'horror house' game inside the adventure attraction.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge in front of the judges.
The two women filed the complaint with Al Barsha Police Station on September 24 last year.
"The accused and his friend entered the haunted house at the same time as we did. I asked them to stay ahead of us but they did not bother. At one point, he bumped into me and his body touched mine. I thought it happened by mistake. When he put his hand on my shoulder, I thought it was my friend," the student said.
"His hand reached all my body. He grabbed my shoulder again but I was afraid of his reaction in the dark so I ignored him then."
The other complainant, an unemployed, gave a similar story saying that the accused behaved inappropriately during their visit to the horror house.
"He touched me as we passed through dark corridors. He did it on purpose because he did it more than once. When we reached the exit we both yelled at him. We reported him to the security there."
A CCTV footage showed the accused behind the two women together with his friend in the dark corridors in the horror house.
The two complainants were caught on camera shouting at the defendant at the exit gate.
The court will announce a ruling on March 14.
