Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafin said the woman did not give the police any justification for the fine.
According to him, the woman committed the violations because she was in a hurry and wanted to catch up with a friend who was waiting for her in a restaurant, adding that this was no justified reason to exempt her from paying the fines.
He said drivers often made excuses to escape punishment, but the police is quick in figuring out who is telling the truth and who is not.
Listing out some examples, he said there have been instances when men at the wheel said they were driving fast because their wife was pregnant and about to deliver a baby.
The younger lot, he said, simply deny committing the offenses.
