Kyiv has struggled on the battlefield for months, weakened by desperately needed US military aid
When you think of a luxury shopping destination one of the most elite places is without a doubt Harrods in London or Dubai.
Now those two are coming together, and a little bit of Dubai is in London. On the ground floor of Harrods, Emaar is showcasing stunning window displays, which will draw the attention of the 75,000 people who pass by the store each day.
The entire second floor of the upmarket department store and its ground floor windows have been transformed into a "mini-Dubai" by the developer of the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa.
The models include The Tower, which is expected to be taller than Burj Khalifa - currently the world's highest - when completed in Dubai Creek Harbour.
One of the windows showcases a scale model of Dubai Opera which is set to open soon on August 31 with the sold out show of world renowned Spanish tenor Placido Domingo.
Other windows display the masterplans and visual imagery of The Opera District whilst another artistically depicts ballerinas performing on stage.
The Dubai showcase will be at the Knightsbridge store until August 2016, giving Londoners an insight into the gleaming metropolis that is Dubai.
But the exhibition also has another purpose: Emaar will be selling residential property at Dubai Creek Harbour in projects known as Creekside 18 and Harbour Views.
London is the perfect destination as there are now over 19,000 UK nationals who own property in Dubai.
Harrods Estates highlights that a buyer can purchase an apartment at Dubai Creek Harbour with a starting price of £184,135, a cost that equates to £260 per sqft, whereas prime central London equivalent values are £2,000 per sqft.
"We are delighted to exclusively showcase our exciting new developments at the famous Harrods department store. Our showcase has an array of properties which will appeal to different types of buyers. From luxurious penthouses and villas to one bedroom apartments, Emaar is showcasing high quality homes in Harrods to suit all needs," said Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director of Emaar Properties.
Prices at the Emaar showcase at Harrods start from just £184,135 for a 707 sqft, one bedroom apartment in Harbour Views at Dubai Creek Harbour.
Homes in the Dubai Hills Estate start from £285,960 for a 1,057 sqft one bedroom apartment and from £643,483 for a 3,102 sqft three bedroom villa.
Prices at The Address Residences Dubai Opera start from around £400,844 for a 799 sqft one bedroom apartment.
"Just as London is the financial capital of the European time-zone, so Dubai is the financial capital of the Middle East time-zone. The Dubai property market is now stable, benefitting from huge inward investment from both the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent, and its economy is anticipated to grow strongly leading up to the Dubai World Expo in 2020, despite last year's downturn in oil prices. Most important is Dubai's openness to the world and willingness to attract private investors," added Simon Barry, Head of New Residential Developments at Harrods Estates.
