We're on a roll. Roll of honour, that is.
That's one way of explaining the barrage of digital media awards coming our way. Last month, Khaleej Times Digital won five coveted awards by the prestigious World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) Middle East Conference.
That was followed by KhaleejTimes.com being honoured with the Best Digital News Outlet award at the CDO Conclave in Dubai.
And now, it is none other than Global Village, the Middle East's biggest outdoor family destination, recognising Khaleej Times Digital for the Best Media Innovation in Online Coverage.
On April 19, days after the multicultural festival park closed its gates on April 8 with a record-breaking attendance of 5.6 million guests over its 159 days of operation, Global Village hosted its awards night under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Ahmad Hussain, CEO of Global Village said, "Every season, Global Village moves from one success to another and we are grateful for the contribution of various government authorities and entities, partners and the media who play a very important role in our success. The awards night is to honour the support we have received from all the members of government and private entities."
"Media plays a big role in communicating our vision and highlighting our achievements to our visiting guests - they are our voice and we recognise that. For this reason, we thank all journalists, photographers, and media publications who have contributed to the success of the recent season of Global Village. The media awards for the 21st season has received many new and interesting entries from media representatives who have played a vital role in highlighting the essence of Global Village over the 159-day period," Hussain added.
Global Village also announced the launch of its 22nd season 2017-18 on November 1, 2017, during a special night that honoured government authorities, partners and the media who contributed to the success of Global Village's 21st season, which took place on April 19, 2017.
The awards ceremony recognised all the government authorities that played a key role in the success of the 21st season as well as the partners and investors who stood out in their respective categories.
Bin Essa added: "While many have played a big role in our success, there are some who have had an exemplary contribution across government and media entities, as well as partners from our investors - this ceremony is to specially honour those people."
The ceremony began with a video that showcased the highlights of the 21st season which was followed by honouring key government authorities which included; Dubai Police Head Quarter, General Department of Protective Security and Emergency, General Department of Criminal Investigation, General Department of Operations, General Department of Traffic, Al Barsha Police Station, Directorate General of Civil Defense, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Department of Economic Development, Al Ameen Service, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, Dubai SME, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Ministry of Community Development, Arabian Radio Network, and Group Security.
Recognising the government authorities' invaluable support to Global Village, Hussain said: "Government entities provide a valuable partnership which is essential to the success of every season without whose support it would be difficult to create a better experience for our guests. We continuously work very closely with all these entities across our seasons to guarantee a favourable and safe experience for all our guests."
The ceremony concluded with recognition of Global Village's partners in success.
