Dubai motorists holding credit cards of the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank can pay their traffic fines in instalments at zero per cent interest, the police have announced. The fines can be paid in three, six or 12 months, and the minimum payment is Dh500.
The Dubai Police and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank signed an agreement to this effect on Monday.
Brigadier Humaid Salem Al Suwaidi, acting director of finance at the Dubai Police, said the agreement aims at "opening new channels for Dubai Police customers to make them happy".
"This is in line with the happiness initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai."
He said that this creative idea will enable Dubai Police customers to pay their traffic fines in easy instalments to be determined by the customers. The payment can be made through services centres, online banking and on the Dubai Police website. Brig Al Suwaidi said this agreement is supporting the Smart Dubai initiative launched by the Dubai Ruler.
Omran Taymoor from the ADCB said that the partnership with the Dubai Police reflect the bank's obligation to meet the increasing demands of the customers and will facilitate payment of traffic violations in a fast and easy way.
