Honouring the memory of her parents - the late King Hussein bin Talal and Queen Alia Al Hussein, Princess Haya bint Hussein; the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, donated an undisclosed amount that will feed over 30,000 families in her home country, Jordan. The donation was made in her name as well as her son Zayed and her daughter Jalila.
Taking to Instagram, Princess Haya first posted a series of tributes to her parents - especially to her mother whom she recalls to be fondly known as the 'Mother of the Poor'. Queen Alia passed away on February 9th, 1977.

Earlier, she had also posted a heartfelt tribute to her father who passed away on February 7th, 1999. Princess Haya wrote that the late Jordanian ruler will always be the father of the country in the hearts of its many residents.

After honouring her parents, she made the announcement earlier on February 10 that she will be donating to Tkiyet Um Ali - a charity organization that Princess Haya once chaired and established in the memory of her father to aid those in need. While the amount remains unknown, feeding 30,000 families is a task that requires a pretty penny.

In memory of my parents, Their Majesties the Late King Hussein Bin Talal and Queen Alia Al Hussein (who was always fondly known by Jordanians as Mother of the Poor), Al Jalila and Zayed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and I today are proud to donate to Tkiyet Um Ali to help combat hunger in Jordan. HM King Hussein taught us to stand together during the most difficult of economic times and as a result, with this donation, Tkiyet Um Ali can now feed the 30,000 families living below the poverty and hunger line across our beloved Jordan. I have asked my brother, HRH Prince Ali, and HE Hussain Al Majali, and Mr. Zaid Al Hamdan to oversee and ensure that Tkiyet Um Ali reaches their goal.

Princess Haya is no stranger to helping honourable causes. In fact in 2016, she went out of her way to fly to Haiti to oversee the UAE's relief operations for families affected by Hurricane Matthew. Sheikh Mohammed was also there in spirit as he sent his personal jet to Haiti filled with 90 metric tonnes of aid.

The impact of Princess Haya's donation will indeed be of great help to families in need.
