If you are doing a desk job and intend to stay fit, then you may have to consider a job change as sitting all day makes you lose least calories.
According to the CalorieLab, a person weighing 150lb will only lose 34 calories per hour while typing and sitting all day. However, a firefighter of the same weight shall lose as much 748 calories.
We take a look at calories burned in different jobs:
1: The occupations which burn least calories are that of receptionists, counselors, customer service telephone workers, writers, graphic designers, accountants, commercial and public transportation drivers, cashiers, tech support, IT development, administration, and secretaries. These jobs involved limited physical activity and mostly sitting for as long as 9 hours. For anyone weighing 145 pounds, these occupations help to burn roughly 102.5 calories per hour or 820 calories in one working day, according to the fitness blender.
2: People in jobs involving moderate physical activity like teachers, childcare workers, personal trainers, mechanics, police officers, cooks, salespeople, floor managers, pharmacy techs, nurses, other health care providers, realtors, and security services, burn more calories than the above mentioned workers. Since these occupations involved more moving around and physical activity, they burn can burn up to 1020 calories a day or 127.5 calories per hour.
3: Jobs that burn the highest calories include that of construction workers, waitresses, farmers, custodians and maintenance workers, landscapers, professionals of a construction trade such as carpenters, plumbers, welders, roofers, or electricians. These people spend their day exerting their body, walking, running; jumping and doing other physical activities that help them burn more calories. People in these jobs can lose about 175 calories per hour, or 1,400 in a day.
