Sharjah - A total of 60 distinctive number plates of 1 to 5 digits have been offered for sale during the auction held at Al Jawaher ballroom on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

The race for No.1 finally ended up with Dh18million at the Al Jawaher ballroom in Sharjah on Saturday evening.
The coveted one digit number - 1 - car number plate of code (3) was sold to Arif Ahmed Al Zarooni for a whopping Dh18million at the distinctive number plate auction organised by the Sharjah Police in collaboration with the Emirates Auction.
A total of 60 distinctive number plates of 1 to 5 digits have been offered for sale during the auction held at Al Jawaher ballroom on Saturday from 10am to 4pm. The number plate (1971), which refers to the year when the UAE was formed, has been sold for Dh47,000.
Earlier, the Sharjah Police opened up the registration door for those interested to take part in the auction. An opening bid (price) has been determined to start the auction on the number plates offered.
The No.1 gained the highest starting price of One Million dirhams to commence the auction, followed by the two digit number (22), which was given a starting price of Dh360,000, while two-digit number (50) was given Dh350,000; and the two-digit number (12) Dh300,000.
