There will be a 'short gap of one to two months' before a new Indian Ambassador to the UAE takes charge.
Outgoing Indian Ambassador TP Seetharam's term came to an end on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief of Mission and Head of Chancery, Neeta Bhushan, will be in-charge till a new ambassador joins office. "Neeta Bhushan will be the chargé d'affaires," Seetharam said.
"A new ambassador should have been decided by now but it hasn't been done," he added. He said two more Indian ambassadors retired on Wednesday - Ambassador to the US Arun Singh and Ambassador to Ireland Radhika Lal Lokesh. "Still, there is no confirmation on any of these replacements. It is expected anytime. The decision has to be taken at a higher level."
On the time limit in naming a new envoy to the UAE, he said: "There are lots of procedures to be followed before finalising a name. This may take up to one or two months. So, there will be short gap."
The ambassador, as usual, had a busy schedule even on his last day in office with meetings and farewells.
Indian journalists in the Capital said this might be a rare instance when an outgoing ambassador has received so many farewells.
