On Friday at 6am, many Dubai residents gathered at Kite Beach in Jumeirah to experience the blend of soulful yoga and meditation. This was the first time 'Heartfulness UAE' and 'Nirvana Yoga' came together to conduct a 75-minute session here, which included 45 minutes of yoga, followed by 30 minutes of concentration.
While both institutes have earlier organised various yoga and meditation sessions separately for corporate groups, universities and at different events across the UAE, this was the first time when they joined hands to create a mystical environment.
Subramaniam Bremadesam, a banker based out of Dubai and a meditation trainer, said: "In our fast-paced life, it is difficult to take out time for ourselves. To serve this exact purpose, we came up with yoga cum meditation session so we can all learn to relax, to meditate and to find our true inner self."
Another trainer at the centre, Harpreet Karla emphasised that one must include yoga for wellness. He believes 30 minutes of yoga and meditation can boost energy levels in the body and can give power to fight with any problem or disease.
He said: "We are generally trying to increase awareness that a simple change in life can bring about a massive difference in our lives".
People from different walks of life participated in the session. Some were attending it for the first time whereas some are regular with such meetings.
Prabhu Badrinathen , 33-year-old software developer in Dubai, said: "I have been meditating for quite some time but this is the first time to experience yoga and meditation together. I strongly feel that yoga truly enables us to experience deep meditation.
Alex D' Souza, a 46-year-old educational professional and an enthusiastic participant at the event, said it could help students a lot. This practice can improve their learning capabilities and memory.
