Get sporty car number plate by paying Dh500

Umm Al Quwain - The new number plates are longer and more colorful.

The law enforcement bodies here in the northern emirate of Umm Al Quwain has introduced critical changes to the number plates issued here.

The move, in line with the ministry of interior strategy, is meant to win and increase customers' satisfaction, according to the licensure department of the UAQ police.

The new number plates are longer and more colourful, they added. "The UAE flag in colour has also been added atop the name of the emirate of Umm Al Quwain." The move is in response to the many requests of the public to replace their traditional looking number places with smaller and sports-looking ones, they said.

"They want to add a touch of beauty and luxury to their vehicles and share the feeling of owning an exotic car."

Effective July 26, anyone could change their car number plates with a sports-looking one in Ras Al Khaimah.

The smaller registration number in black and white colours would cost only Dh500 as per the new scheme launched by the Ras Al Khaimah Police and general resources authority.

"However, only the front number plate will be changed, and that will cost Dh500," Captain Thaer of the RAK police told Khaleej Times.

Mohammed Hamza, an Emirati national, said he was happy about the new changes introduced to the UAQ number plates. "However, we need to know about the due fees, and hopefully they will be affordable."

Abdulaziz Al Mazrouie, an Emirati national, said he has approached the licensure department before to change his number plate. "Finally, they will do the needful at hopefully low price."
