Members of the royal family, top officials, and a crowd of mourners performed funeral prayers this afternoon
Lieutenant General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Chairman of the Crisis and Disasters Team in Dubai, has passed away.
Funeral prayers will be held on Friday at the Zabeel Grand Mosque after the afternoon prayers, the Dubai Police announced on their Twitter handle. He will be laid to rest in Al Qusais.
Mazeina had joined the police force on June 13, 1983, and in 1993 he was appointed the narcotics division officer at the General Department of Criminal Investigation.
It was on the November 23, 2013 that His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had issued a decree appointing Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina as the Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police.
