The UAE has pledged to 'leave no one behind' in achieving the new Millennium Development Goals 2030 adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development (Micad), made the pledge on Saturday during her speech in the three-day Sustainable Development Goals 2015 Summit held at the UN headquarters in New York.
The set of "sustainable development goals" reflect a new global consensus on what the world should look like in the next 15 years: A world without poverty, where citizens enjoy the right to education and health, and a safe world where communities enjoy well-being and economic prosperity in a sustainable clean environment.
In her address, she called on members of the UN to unite efforts to pass this critical stage to the year 2030 and beyond.
Shaikha Lubna said the UAE is striving to achieve targets, in which access to clean energy; provision of food, education and health care; sustainable economic growth; and protection of environment are seen as priority issues by the wise leadership.
