Labour ministry to handle house maid permits

With the new announcement, sponsors who wish to apply for a work visa of a domestic worker will have to go through the MoHRE and not the Ministry of Interior.

Employment of domestic workers in Dubai will be handled by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) from the first quarter of 2017. The ministry will start handling the process of recruitment of domestic workers in the rest of the country by the second quarter.
Currently, applications for domestic workers are processed and approved at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
With the new announcement, sponsors who wish to apply for a work visa of a domestic worker will have to go through the MoHRE and not the Ministry of Interior.
Top diplomats from the Philippines and Indonesia welcomed the Council of Ministers directive.
