A 44-year-old Asian worker succumbed to fatal injuries received after he was run over by a car driven by an 33-year-old Emirati woman in Ras Al Khaimah.
A 28-year-old Asian worker, a colleague of the deceased, also received medium injuries in the same mishap, after the driver lost control over the steering wheel and ran over the victims, according to a senior police officer.
Col Ahmed Saeed Al Sam Al Naqbi, acting director general of the traffic and patrols department, RAK Police, said the central operations room was alerted of the accident on Wednesday afternoon.
"The traffic patrols, ambulances and paramedics rushed to the site where the Emirati woman driver was blamed for the mishap, as she lost control of the steering wheel, veered off the road and rammed into the two workers."
The duo were on duty when the woman ran over the first victim and killed him on the spot, and then collided with a bulldozer, he added.
"Having no control of the four-wheel-drive car, the woman ran over the second worker, and finally hit a lamp post and turned over."
The paramedics tried hard to resuscitate the first victim but he could not make it and died on the spot, Col Naqbi stated.
"The second worker was rushed to the hospital for treatment and medical care, while the body of the first victim was moved to the morgue for relatives to collect and bury as due."
Warning road users, Col Naqbi said speeding at curves is highly risky, mostly ending up in losing control of the vehicle and resulting in injuries or casualties.
"All drivers need to be focused on the road, reduce speed at curves, and observe traffic rules and regulations."
