Two Gulf citizens stood trial at the Ras Al Khaimah criminal court for stealing a donation box of a charity association.
The RAK public prosecution charged the suspects with stealing Dh190, two cash boxes worth Dh800, and a donation box in a car wash shop.
The duo trespassed into the shop damaging the glass door and also a computer, using a knife.
The lawyer of the duo denied the accusations and called them unreasonable. "There is no evidence of the crime, and my clients have denied the charges during police and prosecution interrogations."
However, the prosecution witness said the first suspect did steal Dh190 from two cash boxes and a donation box of a charity society. The second prosecution witness, a CID official, told the court they received several robbery complaints from different shops recently. "The surveillance cameras showed two masked men, wearing gloves, inside the shop after breaking into it. They parked their car behind the shop and then entered it using a knife."
The defence lawyer told the court that the first suspect was in the RAK Police custody at the time of the crime for being involved in other cases.
"The first prosecution witness is the shop owner, and wants to accuse anyone arrested by the police, though the robbers were completely masked and cannot be identified," said the lawyer.
He also requested the exoneration of his client and pardoning him considering his young age. The RAK criminal court ordered adjournment of the case to the end of this month for giving the final verdict.
