An off-duty firefighter put out a blaze that broke out in his neighbour's house in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday. Senior non-commissioned officer Mustafa Al Balooshi, a firefighter with the RAK Civil Defence, put out the fire that broke out in his neighbour's electric transformer by using the equipment available at his house.
The brave officer has been honoured by Brigadier Mohammed Al Zaabi, director of the RAK Civil Defence.
According to sources, an Emirati called the police operations room after noticing the fire at his house in Al Dheit area. However, a short while later, he called back the operations room, saying his neighbour had put out the fire on his own.
Al Balooshi managed to put out the blaze before it could spread to the rest of the house and the neighbouring houses. By the time the civil defence responded to the call, he had managed to put out the blaze.
"Al Balooshi's dedication and immediate reaction has helped reduce losses, contain the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to the entire house and nearby houses," said Brig Al Zaabi.
