A labour camp and three houses were gutted in separate blazes that broke out in six different locations over the last two days, a source informed Khaleej Times.
"The flames have entirely destroyed the six locations that included a labour camp, three houses, a car, and an auto garage."
The civil defence department, when alerted of the fires, dispatched firefighters to the reported venues where they put out the blaze before it spread to nearby places.
Elaborating, the same sources said that the first fire reported was in a labour camp where the flames were about to spread to nearby labour camps.
"The wooden makeshift caravans easily caught fire due to mostly an electric short circuit as per initial investigations."
The RAK firefighters, in collaboration with the National Ambulance rescue teams and paramedics, evacuated the labour camp and the nearby ones, contained the fire, and put it out using water, they said.
"The same scenario was seen at three houses where fire erupted at different timings, but the RAK civil defence teams were all set to professionally attend to the emergency situations."
"Another blaze broke out in an auto garage due to an electric short circuit apparently, but it was contained quickly, and the heavy smoke was sucked out as well."
Later, the civil defence teams attended to a road accident. "The driver of the saloon car luckily received only minor injuries and was given first aid on the spot. He was later moved to the hospital for treatment and medical care."
