Green Globe Initiative: Sharjah Students go environment friendly

With an objective of healthier and greener environment in UAE, members of Green Globe NGO attended the FEWA awareness campaign on Thursday.
The day's session was all about the conservation of the electricity and water in the city.
Green Globe is a group of around 300 students ranging from Grade 4 to Grade 12. They work for awareness campaigns on environment and sustainability in UAE.
Recently, the group has organised an interactive session with the nursery kids on environmental issues followed by the plantation activity in Sharjah. Around fifteen volunteers from the group visited 'Kids Paradise Nursery' and 'Happy Home Nursery' in Sharjah on August 23 to plant over 15 fruits and 20 saplings in both the nurseries.
They have also briefed the little kids about the importance of nurturing and protecting plants and the importance of conserving the limited resources.
Founder of the NGO Humaid Habeeb and Regional Ambassador of Tunza Eco Generation (an initiative of UNEP) feels everyone should take the responsibility to make this planet a better place.
He said, "We must use the resources in hand to keep our world in a better state, towards working for a sustainable future because every action makes a difference".  
The group of young volunteers aims to raise awareness through action and to give back to society through their campaigns. Tree plantation is one of such initiative.
Hamza Aamir, a Green Globe member thinks planting a tree and realizing that it is going to benefit many is quite an amazing feeling and I am happy that I am a part of this".
The group have organised more than 50 events including tree plantations, clean ups, anti smoking awareness campaigns at labor camps, food distribution drives, volunteered at numerous events and relief contribution for needy people. They have worked closely with many entities including Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority and Ramada resorts. The organisation is also a part of the Earth Charter Youth Groups.
