Major Marzouqi Khalfan, director of auto confiscation department at the Sharjah Traffic Police, said that most of the cyclists avoid wearing helmets and other safety measures despite the various awareness drives. Those who were not wearing these items and not meeting other safety requirements had their bicycles confiscated.
The two-wheelers have been found to be involved in many fatal accidents due to lack of safety and failing of following traffic regulation. Major Khalfan said the inspection campaign will be continued.
