Fujairah Police issue over 700 fines for parking in disabled bays

Fujairah - 'If a motorist parks his/her vehicle in a disabled-only spot, a fine of Dh1,000 and four black points are slapped against the motorist.'

Over 700 traffic tickets were issued to motorists for parking in spots reserved for people with special needs in Fujairah, a top police officer has said.
According to Brigadier Mohammed Ghanim Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police, if a motorist parks his/her vehicle in a disabled-only spot, a fine of Dh1,000 and four black points are slapped against the motorist.
This is according to article number 23 of the traffic law, he added.
Brigadier Al Kaabi said a total of 180 permits were issued last year to motorists with special needs. Only those with these permits are allowed to park in the disabled-only spots, he affirmed.
The permit must be placed on the windshield in such a way that inspectors are able to read them clearly, he said.
