Dubai - The 119km long new federal roads, worth Dh2.7 billion, will better connect the areas and regions of the country and enhance security and trade movement in line with the directives of the UAE prudent leadership.

Whereas the UAE is now having 717km long of federal roads, the ministry of infrastructure development on Tuesday unveiled promising plans to build and develop four new arterial roads.
The 119km long new federal roads, worth Dh2.7 billion, will better connect the areas and regions of the country and enhance security and trade movement in line with the directives of the UAE prudent leadership.
Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of infrastructure development, said the planned roads include the road that links Dubai - Hatta and the Kalba road passing by the Wadi Al Qoor.
"The Ministry has finished the design of the 22km road, consisting of two lanes in some parts and three in others, while the construction work is to kick off in the beginning of 2018, and the project is to be completedin 30 months."
A second road is also to be built, he added. "The 42km long road, to be built in three stages, will connect the Wadi Al Qoor and the road that links Lahbab round about Nazwa road."
The road has been designed whereas a contractor is to be picked soon to carry out the first phase, Dr Nuaimi explained. "The first and second phases of the road, extending over 24km, will be built in 45 months, effective from the beginning of 2017."
The 50km long Shaikh Khalifa Al Shuwaib road is the third road to be developed, he stated. "The first stage of the two-phase six-lane road, three in each direction, extends over 33km, and slated to kick off in the beginning of 2017."
The ministry is also to develop the Western Khor Fakkan road, he disclosed. "A contractor is to be decided for the 5km long road in the first quarter of 2017 while the ministry is to start construction work in the first half of the same year."
Dr Nuaimi said the ministry is also maintaining 12 major roads against Dh1.547 billion.
"These span the construction of a pumping station (PS10B) from the Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed road to the sea as part of the fourth stage of the 5th Industrial Square (Sharjah) development project."
The project, 96 percent of which have been completed, stands at Dh184 million, he said. "The ministry is also developing the Ras Al Khaimah ring road; 86 percent of which have been completed, against Dh398 million."
Dr Nuaimi said the ministry is building a number of internal roads and connections for the residential compounds in the northern region against Dh44 million. "We are also building internal roads and connections in the eastern region against Dh47 million, and others in the Southern region against Dh52 million."
The ministry is developing the performance of the Maleha road, worth Dh174 million, and the Twain roundabout-Emirates road-Ittihad road (second stage), worth Dh140 million, as well as the Ittihad road (E11) from Falaj Al Mualla-Umm Al Quwain E55 against Dh112 million, he said.
"We are also developing the Badeea intersection on the Emirates road E611 against Dh152 million, as well as the road that links the Khalifa road (Fujairah) with the Khatm Al Maliha and Road E99 against Dh28 million."
The ministry is further building road connects at the residential compounds (first stage) against Dh13 million, added to the development of the 4.5km long Hamad bin Abdullah road which is the arterial route for Fujairah city against Dh250 million, the minister stated.
"The ministry has accomplished 45 key projects for developing and maintaining federal roads against Dh4.420 billion in the last 10 years, which have all helped boost the economic and social boom in the country."
