Tailgating has been one of the major reasons causing deaths on UAE roads. Despite the Police force cautioning motorists time and again, the issue seems to linger.
A study by the Dubai Police's traffic department showed that deaths caused due to tailgating represented a 61.9 per cent increase in 2015.
A video titled 'Tailgater gets brake checked and then crashes' on YouTube has gone viral. The footage, that seems to be recorded on a dash cam, follows a Chevrolet SUV tailgating another SUV on a highway in Wisconsin, USA.

The clip shows the driver of the car in front tapping the brakes to get the tailgating car to back off. But the Chevrolet driver then lost control and crashed into the median.
Viewers commented "both drivers were at fault" and "just what every tailgater deserves".

In 2015, aggressive tailgating caused 42 deaths in Dubai. According to reports, Emirati motorists caused the most number of fatal traffic accidents in the UAE last year as a result of "aggressive tailgating", the Dubai Police have revealed. They caused 17 deaths.
Pakistani motorists came in the second place, having caused the deaths of 11 people, while Indian motorists caused six deaths, and Egyptians, four.
