An Emirati man, identified as F.Y, was killed on Thursday after the car he was driving rammed into the rear of a heavy truck.
Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of traffic and patrols department at the UAQ Police, said the central operations room of the Police was alerted of the accident on Thursday evening.
"Initial enactment of the accident showed that the accident, which took place on the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Road in Umm Al Quwain, was blamed on speeding and inattentive driving." The driver of the car, who was heading to Falaj Al Mualla, did not notice the truck that was parked on the side of the road, and rammed into its rear part, he added.
"The driver was stuck in the car until the civil defence men used special equipment to release him."
He was rushed to the nearest hospital, but he could not make it, he pointed out.
"The body of the victim was shifted to the morgue for burial by relatives, while the accident file was referred to the bodies concerned for legal action."
