A heavy truck was gutted in a fire on the Emirates Road in Umm Al Quwain on Saturday afternoon. After being alerted about the accident, the central operations room of the UAQ Police dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in record time.
Official sources with the UAQ civil defence department told Khaleej Times that a heavy truck caught fire around 1:00pm. The flames first started in the rear tyres of the truck, and then spread to the entire vehicle. "The truck was totally destroyed in the blaze," they added. "However, none was hurt in the incident." Investigations are on to ascertain the reasons behind the fire, they said. "The case has been referred to the legal authorities concerned for legal action." A four-wheel-drive car was totally charred in a fire in the industrial area of the emirate of Umm Al Quwain on June 30 morning.
